Syngonium podophyllum ‘Arrowhead’, commonly known as the Arrowhead Plant or Arrowhead Vine, is a classic tropical houseplant loved for its distinctive arrow-shaped foliage and adaptable growth habit. Native to the rainforests of Central and South America, this versatile aroid has become a cornerstone of indoor plant collections, offering lush greenery and effortless charm with minimal care requirements.

The plant’s juvenile leaves are arrowhead-shaped and vibrant green, often with subtle silvery or cream variegation along the veins. As it matures, the leaves may become more deeply lobed, and its growth can shift from a compact bush to a trailing or climbing vine. Its versatility makes it suitable for hanging baskets, tabletops, or moss poles — and its ability to thrive in a range of light conditions makes it ideal for both beginners and collectors.

Lush, adaptable, and naturally elegant, Syngonium ‘Arrowhead’ adds a touch of rainforest vitality and timeless tropical beauty to any interior space.

Syngonium podophyllum ‘Arrowhead’ – Care Guide

Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light but is tolerant of medium to low light conditions. For the healthiest growth and most vibrant foliage, place near a bright window with filtered sunlight. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Watering

Keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Overwatering can cause root rot, while allowing the soil to dry out too much may lead to drooping leaves. During winter, reduce watering frequency as growth slows.

Temperature and Humidity

  • Temperature: Prefers warmth between 20–28 °C; avoid cold draughts and temperatures below 15 °C.

  • Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity (50–70%). Mist occasionally or place near a humidifier to maintain lush, healthy foliage.

Soil and Potting

Use a well-draining, nutrient-rich tropical mix — equal parts compost, perlite, and coco coir or fine bark are ideal. This allows airflow around the roots while retaining gentle moisture. Repot every 1–2 years in spring to refresh the soil and accommodate new growth.

Feeding

Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced fertiliser. Too much fertiliser can lead to leaf burn or faded colouration. Suspend feeding in autumn and winter.

Pruning and Maintenance

Prune regularly to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Trimming back long vines will help keep the plant compact if you prefer a fuller appearance. Wipe the leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep them glossy. Rotate the plant every few weeks for even light exposure and symmetrical growth.

Growth and Maturity

A moderate to fast grower, Syngonium ‘Arrowhead’ typically reaches 60–90 cm in height or spread indoors. Its juvenile form remains compact and dense, while mature plants can trail or climb depending on support. The leaves may also grow larger and more divided as the plant ages, showcasing its evolutionary transition from ground cover to vine.

Common Issues

  • Yellow leaves: Overwatering or poor drainage.

  • Brown tips: Low humidity or dry air.

  • Drooping: Underwatering or cold exposure.

  • Pests: Occasionally spider mites or thrips; treat promptly with neem oil or insecticidal soap.

Background and Benefits

Native to the tropical rainforests of Mexico, Brazil, and Bolivia, Syngonium podophyllum grows as an epiphyte or groundcover in humid forest understories. The ‘Arrowhead’ cultivar is the most common and foundational form of the species, valued for its hardiness, vibrant foliage, and versatility.

In cultivation, it is adored for its adaptability — thriving in both bright and low-light interiors while purifying the air by removing toxins such as formaldehyde and benzene. Its elegant arrow-shaped leaves bring structure and softness to any space, making it one of the most timeless tropical houseplants.

Excellent Product!!! Will purchase again!
Size: 2' x 3' (Natural), Color: Wolf Tipped
Instead of ordering a cover for reclining loveseats, I chose to drape one of these over the headrest on either end of our loveseat. Not only do they protect the leather, they also help to elevate our decor. The rugs were received in a very timely manner. They are super soft, & warming as we move into the winter months. We've had family & friends comment on how great they look. 2 of them have already ordered, & added them to their sofa/loveseat/recliner decor. Have an issue of them slipping, add some velcro in between the crook of the cushion & the back of the furniture piece. It doesn't show & will help to keep the rug in place; if your busy body.!

Perfect for sensory sensitive kids and for the pure beauty of it
Size: 2' x 6' (Natural), Color: Natural (Yellow Undertones), Size: 2' x 6' (Natural), Color: Natural (Yellow Undertones)
After speaking over the phone with the seller, I was confident in this purchase for my SPD son. They do not use harsh chemicals or dyes in the process. It is from New Zealand and the only use in Vietnam is for shipping. My son hasn't been diagnosed yet for Autism but he is in the process. He is super sensitive to all things sensory and Amazon feedback isn't the place to give specific details on his condition but I will write that when he fist touched it- which was willingly- he smiled and asked to sleep on it. When he laid down on it and I covered him- he was calm and smiling. In the pic I provided he is calm and holding his door (his obsession is doors and windows). He even set his door down to hold the fur. For other mommies and papas with spd/autistic kids you know that willingly touching a new fabric and setting down an obsessive item is huge and super encouraging! I am so grateful to have such a quality item that is affordable for my special needs son. His older sister received one as well as is now pretending to be a sheep. Fun for everyone! The ONLY negative is that the brand/info sticker on the pelt was a pain to get off and pulled some of the felt - not damaging it but blemishing the unity -but if the skin is down it will not be noticeable. A super fun detail is that all of the fur is combed out but there were a few strands that were wavy and had a slight curl- I LOVED that. There was no odor at all which is great! I expected an animal smell which is better than chlorine or dioxin which is what competitors use in their process. There is no noticeable seam in the middle on the top where the two pelts are gathered. I am soooo satisfied!

Size: 2' x 6' (Natural), Color: Wolf Tipped
I have a bad back along with other medical problems. I bought this for padding in my wheelchair. Very thick, soft, flexible, everything I needed. No smell and very little shedding even initially. Arrived quickly and well packaged.

High quality sheepskin!!
Color: Natural (Yellow-white Ivory), Size: 2' x 3' (Natural), Color: Natural (Yellow-white Ivory), Size: 2' x 3' (Natural)
This sheepskin was purchased as a "chair cover" for my pets. It arrived with very nice packaging, along with detailed care instructions. The sheepskin was advertised as being"not white" online, and the company made very sure to state that the fur has an "off white/yellow" color. That was a little concerning for me, and I wasn't really sure whether it would have an off color, but it arrived exactly as described. There were no obvious discolorations, spots, or blemishes. In fact, it arrived as a soft "off white" color that is very beautiful and exquisite. The fur has a plush, even look, and there is no matting or fuzzy, "neglected teddy bear look" at all! I actually purchased another brand to see if I could distinguish the difference between the two. This particular sheepskin is by far the better of the two purchases. FYI: When the package was opened, there was no distinct odor. That's a huge plus! I will admit that the size was slightly smaller than expected. It really doesn't matter much in the space I'm using it for though. My miniature Dachshund loves it! If you're trying to find a high quality sheepskin, and you don't need to cover a very large space, this is definitely the one to buy!

The Quality of the sheepskin is awesome.
Color: Wolf Tip, Size: 2' x 3' (Natural)
This rug is a beautiful specimen of New Zealand sheep. The rug is very very soft, the rug is thick, and the brown tips are fabulous looking. All in all I'm very pleased with this purchase. The size is perfect as it measures 2' x 3'. I would buy again from this seller.
