Plant description

Ultra Violet Tropical Water Lily

The Ultra Violet Water Lily is a heavy-blooming tropical variety that dazzles with its sumptuous dark purple petals and radiant golden-yellow centers. Each bloom rises regally 4–7 inches above the water’s surface, creating a dramatic, upright display. Beneath the blossoms, the maroon lily pads splashed with lighter red add striking contrast, making Ultra Violet one of the most eye-catching pond plants for any water garden. A sweet fragrance completes the sensory experience, making this tropical annual a true knockout.

With a spread of 4 to 7.5 feet depending on container size and fertilization, Ultra Violet is well-suited for medium to large ponds, or as a showpiece in decorative container gardens. Like all tropical water lilies, it thrives with full sun, warm water, and consistent feeding. Treat it as an annual in northern climates, and replant each spring for reliable summer blooms.

🌱 Planting & Care Instructions

  • Ultra Violet Water Lily Spread: 4–7.5 feet, depending on pot size and feeding

  • Ultra Violet Water Lily Suggested Pot Size: 9–14 inch wide fabric pond pots

  • Ultra Violet Water Lily Depth: 6–24 inches of water over the crown

  • Soil: Heavy loam (avoid bagged soil with compost; it rots underwater)

  • Fertilizing: 4–5 Waterlily World Fertilizer Tablets on the 1st and 15th of each month (safe for fish & all pond life)

  • Fragrance: Yes, sweetly scented

  • Winter Hardiness: Zones 9–12 (annual in colder zones)

💡 PondMegastore Tip: Ultra Violet is a VERY heavy feeder—the more regularly you fertilize, the more flowers you’ll enjoy all season long.

✅ Do’s & ❌ Don’ts for Ultra Violet Water Lily

Do’s
✅ Use a wide, shallow fabric pond pot (9–14 inches)
✅ Plant in heavy loam soil
✅ Fertilize generously twice per month with 4–5 tablets
✅ Place in full sun (6+ hours daily) for maximum flowering
✅ Allow ample space (4–7.5 feet spread) for pads to float freely
✅ If desired, use a thin layer of clean sand to cover soil—make sure the growing point remains exposed to sunlight

Don’ts
❌ Don’t use bagged potting soil (compost promotes rot in water)
❌ Don’t underfeed—this variety is a heavy bloomer and feeder
❌ Don’t overcrowd—spreading pads need open water
❌ Don’t place the growing tip deep or cover the growing point
❌ Don’t add stone or gravel on top of soil—this often causes plant mortality

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.
