Watermelon Seedless F1 – 5 Seeds

Seed Type: Hybrid, Treated*, NON-GMO & Primed

  • Large fruit size 8-10kg, obviously seedless!
  • Firmer flesh and improved colour
  • Tasty and has an excellent texture. The joy of kids!
  • Consistent performance in all growing regions of Australia
  • Commercial farming variety
  • 100% NON-GMO and Primed seeds for a faster germination
  • We recommend a ratio of 1:2 for seeded (diploid): seedless (triploid) watermelon for the seedless watermelons to pollinate and set fruit. We provide seeds of the diploid (seeded) variety.

What's included in the listed price

  • 5 seeds of Watermelon Seedless F1 (Triploid) variety
  • 10 seeds of any available regular heirloom watermelon (Diploid) variety to aid pollination. We provide different coloured rind watermelon than the seedless so you can easily distinguish the two types

How to grow Seedless Watermelon:

You need both types of seeds, as seedless watermelon does not produce enough pollen to set the fruit. The seeded watermelon, sometimes called the pollinator (diploid) cultivar, provides supplemental pollen.

Watermelons are warm-season annual vines. Start the seeds early, if you can. In temperate areas, sow the seeds in October - November, after all the danger of frost has passed; In subtropical areas, sow in September - November; in tropical areas, sow in April - July, during the dry season.

Sow direct 10 - 20mm deep, or start early in individual seedling pots. In cool areas bottom heat mat may be required. The seeds germinate best at a soil temperature of 21 - 35°C. The seed will germinate in 5 - 14 days. Soil should be fertile, well-drained, with a pH of 6 - 6.5.

Recommended plant spacing for best pollination

For the best pollination results, plan a garden layout that allows you to plant the polleniser variety (seeded, a.k.a diploid) in the outside row and every third row. If you are growing watermelon in a small garden, try alternating seedless and seeded plants in a row, but note that the two plants must be close for pollination purposes. Please see the chart above for ideas on how to plant the seedlings to get the highest yields.

What are Primed Seeds:

The priming process carefully controls the seed's temperature and moisture content, bringing the seed closer to the point of germination and then carefully dried to stop germination for planting. In layman's terms, seed priming is a seed treatment that regulates the germination process.  The seed is taken through an advanced biochemical process that activates some of the initial stages of germination. The priming process advances the seed to the same stage of maturity to emerge uniformly in the field.   When the primed seeds are planted, gardeners are shortening the germination time and improving the uniformity of the crop upon emergence. Apart from a faster speed of emergence, priming also helps improve vigour for fast and healthy plant development.

*Important Note

These seeds are treated with a fungicide (Thiram), DO NOT eat the seeds or feed them to animals. Keep them away from children & animals. Wear gloves and thoroughly wash skin with water & soap after touching the seeds. Treated seeds do not affect your crops or harm insects such as bees. These treated seeds are strictly for propagation or growing in the garden only. THE RESULTANT CROP IS EDIBLE.

Fungicide seed treatment may be an AQIS (Biosecurity, Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, Government of Australia) requirement for certain seeds varieties. Treated seeds may be dyed a distinct colour. Read the label on the seed packet before usage.

NOTE TO READ BEFORE BUYING

Seedless watermelons are not entirely seedless. They have thin, tiny, edible seed coats that never developed into seeds. Oftentimes, the white seed coats where a seed did not fully mature are assumed to seed. But this isn’t the case! They are perfectly OK to swallow while eating

Surviving a 8 month old heavy chewer
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
My dog is OK with it but doesn't like it as good as the whale indestructible toy I got her previously. She chews on it a little while and quits. She acts almost like it makes her nauseated. Idk though.... It gets very very sharp! Be careful grabbing it after they've chewed it.
