Product Description:
Aquilegia canadensis, commonly known as Canadian Columbine or Eastern Red Columbine, is a perennial plant native to woodland and rocky slopes in eastern North America. It features nodding, 1-2 inch wide, long-spurred flowers with scarlet sepals and pale-yellow petals, which bloom in late spring to early summer. This plant grows to a height of 2-3 feet and has fern-like foliage that remains attractive throughout the summer, provided the soil is kept moist. It prefers rich, moist soils in light to moderate shade but can tolerate a wide range of soil types, provided drainage is good. Aquilegia canadensis is known for its ability to attract pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, due to its deep nectaries. In gardens, it is often used in beds and borders, underplanting roses and shrubs, and in informal and cottage garden styles. It can also thrive in prairie and meadow settings and is suitable for woodland or native plant gardens. The plant is short-lived but will self-seed prolifically to form large colonies in optimum growing conditions.

Heat packs are available to purchase in our shop for cold-sensitive plants. Keep in mind some plants we carry are very tropical and even cold, not freezing, temperatures can kill them. 📌IF YOU EXPECT COLD WEATHER, PLEASE PURCHASE A HEAT PACK! 📌 These are necessary for winter shipping, so I sell them at cost. I won't refund or replace any frozen plants unless you buy one!
