Manuel Pertegaz was chosen to head the house of Dior after the untimely death of Christian Dior. Content with his own fashion house he declined the offer and the career of Yves Saint Laurent was born. Pertegaz was Spains leading couturier and dressed such luminaries as Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner and Jackie Kennedy. Most recently he designed the wedding gown for Queen Letizia of Spain.
